An in-depth study carried out by Cadbury to identify what really makes British people happy has revealed that the average adult in Briton spends £2,050 a year on increasingly complex methods to try and boost their happiness levels. The report published in 2003 reveals while we regularly splash cash on short term pick-me-ups like nights out on the town with friends (48%), new clothes (34%) and going on holiday (27%); the key to long term happiness rests with the everyday pleasures that are often taken for granted such as family, friendships and having a laugh.
